If you’re thinking about taking the plunge into freelancing, let me tell you this: it’s f*cking awesome. I’m not going to lie to you and say that it’s all rainbows and butterflies—there are definitely some challenges that come along with working for yourself. But overall, I can say with complete confidence that freelancing is one of the best things I’ve ever done. Here’s why:
You’re the boss.
One of the best things about freelancing is that you get to be your own boss. You make your own hours, you decide which projects to take on, and you control your own destiny. Of course, this also means that there’s no one to blame but yourself if things don’t go according to plan—but that’s a small price to pay for the freedom and flexibility that comes with being your own boss.
You can work from anywhere.
One of the great things about working online is that it doesn’t matter where you are in the world—as long as you have a laptop and an internet connection, you can work from anywhere. Whether you want to work from home in your pajamas or from a beach in Bali, freelancing gives you the freedom to work from wherever you want. Trust me, it’s a lot better than being chained to a desk in a stuffy office all day long.
You get to choose who you work with.
When you’re a freelancer, you get to choose who you want to work with—and believe me, that makes a huge difference. You can pick and choose which clients you want to work with, which projects you want to take on, and which collaborating partners you want to team up with. That way, you can surround yourself with people who inspire and motivate you, instead of being stuck working with people who bring you down.
🍩 Just the sprinkles
So there you have it—three reasons why freelancing is f*cking awesome. Of course, there are some challenges that come along with working for yourself (like having to be disciplined enough to actually get work done). But overall, I can say with complete confidence that freelancing is one of the best things I’ve ever done. If you’re thinking about taking the plunge into freelancing, just know that it’s definitely worth it.
